The Rosses have a 1.2 kW solar system on their
detached garage. The solar system is a building-integrated system
using solar shingles with a 1,800-watt Sunny Boy inverter. They
tore down the old garage, reused old wood and sheathing, and re-oriented
the roof to get a south exposure. They also diverted the rainwater
away from the alley and into a backyard pond, rain barrel, and rain
garden.
