2007 Minnesota Solar Tour
This 1950s era 1,200-square-foot home was
renovated in the summer of 2007 by Macalester College. The goal
for this project was to create a live-in laboratory, in which students
can collect detailed data on renewable energy systems, green remodeling
techniques, and sustainable living practices, and then share that
data with community members. How-to workshops, an interactive website,
and other activities that will be open to the community are also
being planned. In order to support this goal, roughly $60,000 worth
of "green" remodeling features, including the rooftop
solar thermal panels, were integrated.
