The Childs-Dickinson home, built in 1911,
just received a solar face-lift! Meeting over 90% of the building's
energy needs, this 3 kW system has the support of many energy conservation
choices made prior to installation. The motivation for the homeowners
to install a solar array is clear: "Saving the world!"
states Childs. "But seriously: the opportunity to generate
our own, clean power — especially for a couple of longtime
clean energy/anti-global-warming activists — is irresistible.
And the chance to help other people understand the opportunity —
and the issues — by making our system available as a learning
tool, is equally important. And it feels great!"
