Situated in a beautiful, peaceful setting
on 535 acres on Grindstone Lake in east-central MN, amidst mixed
forest, field, wetland, stream and prairie, the Audubon
Center of the Northwoods is a residential environmental learning
center, retreat, and conference center, and an area leader in renewable
energy production. The Center implements natural energy with three
photovoltaic arrays, two flat-panel collectors, a wind generator,
and a geothermal system for heating and cooling for their resident
programs.

From I-35, exit at the Sandstone exit (Exit
191). Go west/southwest on County Road 61 just over 2 miles, then
take a right on County Road 27. Cross the Munger bike trail, then
turn left at Grindstone Lake Road and go just over three miles.
Take a right on County Road 17 (Fox Road). Turn left between the
stone pillars (Audubon Road). Follow this road for 1 mile to the
office (there will be signs the whole way).
