Island
Park Sustainable Cohousing
151 Island Park Drive NE
Minneapolis, MN

|
The entire "Islands of Peace Park"
neighborhood is being "recycled" into a cohousing campus.
Their community center and custom-remodeled, upscale 1–3 bedroom
units in 12-unit buildings share an incredible cohousing campus.
Carpools take 10 minutes to downtown Minneapolis, and they are right
on the Mississippi River, with their own nature park and the Mississippi
Regional Pathway for biking or walking right outside the door. They
long to create the old kind of neighborhood, where everyone knows
each other. Through optional shared dinners, community decision-making,
cohousing, pedestrian-centered design, community permaculture projects,
private organic gardens, wind and solar power, green healthy-building
techniques, and some shared cars and facilities, they are creating
a sustainable community.
