2006 Minnesota Solar Tour

The Rosses have a 1.2 kW solar system on their detached garage. The solar system is a building-integrated system using solar shingles with a 1,800-watt Sunny Boy inverter. They tore down the old garage, reused old wood and sheathing, and re-oriented the roof to get a south exposure. They also diverted the rainwater away from the alley and into a backyard pond, rain barrel, and rain garden.

From the Green Institute, head north on 21st Avenue and turn right at 28th Street. Turn left (north) at Hiawatha Avenue. Take the I-94 West ramp. Take Exit 230 to Olson Memorial Highway (Highway 55)/7th Street North. Continue on East Lyndale Avenue North. Turn left (west) at Olson Memorial Highway (Highway 55). Turn right at Wirth Parkway. Turn right at 26th Avenue. Turn left at Vincent Avenue North.
