2006 Minnesota Solar Tour

The flat plate solar thermal panels provide all summer domestic hot water needs and offset about a third of fuel costs in winter for this two-story stucco home. Antifreeze is circulated through the collectors and transfered to a water storage tank through a heat exchanger. The heated water then goes through an electric water heater. The household also has an E-85 (ethanol) fueled Toyota Prius hybrid.

From Science Museum entrance on Kellogg Boulevard, head north on Kellogg and turn right on Wabasha Street. Turn left into the I-35E S/I-94 West entry ramp, and take the I-94 West ramp. Take exit 238 to Snelling Avenue (Highway 51). Turn right (north) on Snelling Avenue North. Turn left on Hoyt Avenue. Bear right on Snelling Drive. Turn left on Hollywood Court.

From I-94 go north on Snelling Avenue. At the north end of the fairgrounds, turn left (west) on Hoyt Avenue. Turn immediately right (north) on the frontage road and then left (west) on Hollywood Court. Site is on the right.
